This place was recommended to us as the best and most award-winning spot for Fish and Chips in the city. We would definitely go back! The service was very friendly and it offers great value for money, although they did add a 10% service charge to the bill without informing us beforehand. The venue is very spacious and perfect for large groups, and the decor is quite charming and fun. They offer several food options, but if you want to try the most traditional dish, the classic Fish and Chips (which I’ve attached in the photo) is £17. It’s a place worth returning to, located right in the heart of Victoria Street—you couldn't ask for a better location!

The food was good overall. The fish in particular was excellent and really stood out. The chips were nice too, though for the price, the portion size could have been a little more generous. What really made the experience for us was our server. Anju was absolutely lovely very patient, attentive, and a pleasure to deal with. Her service really added to the visit. Thanks, Anju for the great service. Why I’m giving five stars for service.

This restaurant stands out for its professional and friendly customer service. I truly enjoyed my experience here — the food was extremely delicious, well prepared, and the portions were more than sufficient. The restaurant itself is very spacious, beautifully designed, and comfortable, and most of the time it does not require a prior reservation, which makes it very convenient. They also offer a halal menu for those who are looking for halal food options. Overall, I loved this place and would highly recommend giving it a try. In my opinion, it is one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh and definitely worth visiting.”

Bertie’s Fish and Chips, nestled near Edinburgh Castle, is a must-visit for foodies after exploring the castle grounds. Among the many fish and chip restaurants we tried in Scotland, it stands out as one of the best. The fish is expertly prepared, with a tender interior and a golden, crunchy batter. The chips are cooked to perfection, and the tartar sauce is the star of the show. It perfectly binds all the flavours together, making each bite a delight. The staff is friendly and attentive, even recommending our dessert, the toffee sticky pudding. Everyone in my family thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Bertie’s Fish and Chips if you’re in the area. Just be prepared to book in advance, as they can get busy, especially during peak hours.
